Village Family is a nonprofit corporation organized to rejuvenate and strengthen Norfolk underprivileged residents through supportive programs and activities, including adult education, life skills, clothing, youth mentoring, health awareness, and feeding the undeserved. Village Family fosters a community where every person is responsible for the other adhering to the vision of ‘Continuing What our Ancestors Started’, which is rooted in the foundation that it takes a village to improve the quality of life for all. Together, with a cadre of volunteers, we relieve hunger insecurity; promote education, nutrition and health. Our mission is to make sure that no one that comes to us in need goes without assistance or goes to bed hungry.
Village Family is a hunger relief nonprofit that provides a trusted one stop safe haven with quality essentials, food, clothing and resources for the community through partnership and donated pantry space from First Calvary Baptist Church 813 Henry Street located in Norfolk Virginia. We strongly believe these activities will continue to have a positive impact by stopping the violence, improving the morale, quality of life, health, literacy and employment of the underserved communities. These services help minimize to reduce social isolation, loneliness, and mental illness conditions such as depression for example. Village Family is unifying with community partners with the same vision in order to secure a sustainable future for the food pantry that will enable us to establish a Quality Food and Community Resource Center essentials distribution program for those experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship. Village Family integrates nutritious food items, health awareness, financial literacy and community events to transform lives. Our subsidiary social enterprise, Event Parteez, and Community Family Reunion™ S.A.F.E program enables us to collaborate with community partners to organize cultural exchange events, art exhibitions, and performances to celebrate the diversity within our community. These projects foster understanding, respect, and harmony among different cultural groups that are designed to keep our children Safe, Fed, Active and Educated in a trusted safe haven.
