Vanessa Oakes

Vanessa has written plays and text for a wide variety of people and spaces. Her words have been performed in theatres, art galleries and museums, community spaces, coal vaults, beneath a ring road, in an award-winning bungalow and at Latitude. She is currently working on a new opera theatre project, Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century, with composer Vahan Salorian, supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and by Birmingham Opera Company. The public sitzprobe and public workshops for Songs for Survivors of the 21st Century are supported by the Belgrade Theatre, and the public sitzprobe is supported by The Sir Barry Jackson Trust.
