Proudly hailing from Gary, Indiana, Reggie Foster Jr. has taken jazz and gospel into an unapologetic musical revival. Recently performing alongside Jenifer Hudson at 2020 Democratic National Convention at the Chicago Cultural Center, Foster held nothing back while playing Sam Cooks classic, “A Change is Gonna Come”
In 2014, the jazz society welcomed Foster with a warm embrace. Performing on several occasions as a featured performer alongside smooth jazz legends, Rick Braun and Peter White, Foster accepted all new challenges and came out a winner every time. Providing listening audiences with a fleet of emotions, no one walks away feeling unsatisfied. With the release of his second solo record “Chances Are” Foster Jr. has mastered inviting you into his world with a red carpet reception.
Inspired by his father, who was an accomplished saxophonist in his own right, Foster positioned himself to learn even more from some of his most admired artists. From Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright and David Sandborn, these artists’ were the springboards that propelled Foster into unchartered arenas. Foster’s sound can be described as jazza urban with twists of R&B and undiluted funk. His unique sound is captivating and irresistibly rare.
Foster Jr.’s music was not only recognized by the public as timeless but his craftsmanship was also noted with Orpheus Records who signed him onto their label. Orpheus Records is home to household names like Freddie Jackson, Melba More, Nagee and more.
As both a band leader and sideman, Foster has performed with the following reputable artists: Kelly Price, Marion Meadows, Michael Manson, Ricky Dillard, Mark Hubbard, the Williams Brothers, J-Moss,The Clark Sisters, Soul Children, and so many others. Additionally, he has played the National Anthem for the legendary Chicago Bulls.
His new CD release, “Chances Are,” features both classics and amazing original material. Rest assured, they do not disappoint anyone’s musical library.
