The Happy Mums Foundation CIC
Happy Mums Foundation was born from lived experience. Our founder created the first group after her own battle with postnatal depression and suicidal thoughts. Many of our team have walked similar paths. We know what it feels like to be at breaking point—and how powerful it is to hear, “You’re not alone.”
We believe maternal mental health deserves early, accessible, and non-judgmental support. Our groups are more than just a chat—they are a lifeline. They reduce isolation, build confidence, and create hope. When mums feel supported, families thrive, relationships strengthen, and communities grow more resilient.
With 23 groups running monthly across Cumbria and over 100 families supported each year, our impact is clear:
92% of mums feel less isolated
58% feel more able to cope
78% report improved mental health symptoms
But our mission goes beyond group support. We’re using our lived experience to train and support organisations in understanding and responding to parental mental health—helping workplaces become safer, more inclusive environments for parents. This not only improves wellbeing but also aids employee retention, productivity, and culture.
We are committed to sustainability. Alongside grant funding, our workplace training programmes help us continue providing free, accessible support to mums who need it most.
