Restore Ballymacraven River Association
In May 2023, a fish kill occurred on the Ballymacraven River in North County Clare, Ireland. The pollution incident impacted 2.6km of the Ballymacraven River, which is an important salmonid river, to its confluence with the Inagh River Estuary SAC. The fish kill (well in excess of 2,000 fish) included various fish species (large numbers of Atlantic salmon, brown trout, eel, rudd and flounder) of all age classes. The Restore Ballymacraven River Association (RBRA) was established to create a positive response to the fish kill in the local community.
