Nijjor Manush

Nijjor Manush is an independent campaigning group that aims to educate, empower and organise Bengalis and Bangladeshis in the UK (hereafter 'diaspora'). It recognises and celebrates the rich histories and political self- organisation of the diaspora, while challenging the issues facing women, working class communities and people of colour today.

While recognising the many contributions and legacies of the diaspora in the UK and the essential advocacy and cultural work that organisations continue to do, Nijjor Manush recognises the space for a radical, diasporic voice that is political, educative and supportive.

Nijjor Manush focuses its work on the following 2 aims:

Radical Histories and Critical Pedagogy - sharing and celebrating the important contributions diaspora have made in resisting oppression and injustice in both Bangladesh and elsewhere.

Campaigning and Critical Interventions - organising the diaspora community around issues both domestically and internationally, and matters uniquely affecting them.
