Joey Starnes - Charlotte Geeks
Joey founded the Charlotte Geeks in 2008 after attending her second DragonCon in Atlanta, GA. The Charlotte Geeks are a social club that gets together 2-3 times a month. The membership grew quickly from 9 to 25 to 100 to 300 to now over 2500 registered members on Meetup and over 1500 on Facebook. The Geek Gala is their annual birthday celebration and charity event - with proceeds from the event going to local adoptive/foster groups in memory of Joey's little sister Christina, a former foster child.
Joey lives in Charlotte with her husband Matt.
