Set up promotional codes for multiple events

Promotional codes offer discounts or access to hidden tickets. Go to your Marketing workspace and select Promotions to get started. Then choose your code type. Promo codes reduce the price on tickets while access codes grant access to hidden tickets.

  • Create a new promotional code.
  • Delete, update, or share existing codes.

Create a new promotional code.

1. Go to Marketing Tools.

Log in to your Eventbrite account and go to Marketing Tools.

2. Select "Promotions."

3. Select the type of code you want to make.

  • Promo codes: a code that reduces the price on visible tickets.

  • Access codes: a code that reveals hidden tickets.

4. Choose between single code or upload CSV.

  • Single code: Create an individual code. This option is best if you want to create one code that is used for many different orders.

  • Upload CSV: You have a CSV file and want to create codes in bulk with the same settings. This option is best if you want to create a lot of codes that each have limited uses.

If you choose to upload a file, create a CSV file that separates your codes by commas or on separate lines. Then drag and drop it into Upload CSV. Upload up to 5,000 codes per file.

5. Update your code settings and select "Next."

  • Code name: This is what attendees enter during checkout. Codes should be alphanumeric and avoid special characters. For example, if your code gives a 10% discount, your code name could be “SAVE10." If you chose to upload a CSV file, your code names will be the codes you included in your CSV file.

  • Discount amount: Set this to a fixed amount or percentage to be taken off of the full price of your ticket (like $100 or 100%). Fully discounted tickets are free for registrants. This is optional for access codes.

  • Code limit: Leave as unlimited or set a limit on how many tickets this code can be applied to. Once the limit is reached, this code won’t be valid for any future purchasers.

  • Discount code starts/ends: Decide how long this code will be valid. By default, codes work as long as the tickets are available. You can change your settings so your code starts or ends on a certain date.

When you're happy with your settings, click Next.

6. Choose tickets for your code.

Select All tickets to apply the code to all tickets across your events. This applies to current events and future events you create and can't be changed after you create your code.

If you only want this code to apply to certain tickets:

  1. Select Specific tickets.

  2. Select events to apply this code to. Selecting the arrow will let you select specific ticket types within your events.

  3. Optional: After you select your tickets, enter a ticket group name to create a group of those ticket types.

If you've previously created a group, you can select Ticket groups and select it. This will apply the code to the ticket types within that group.

NOTE: When you choose Specific tickets, you can’t select ticket types in recurring events. However, codes that affect all ticket types will apply to them.

7. Select "Save code."

8. Share your code.

After you create your code, share it with your audience.

  • Under Share code, select Share to copy a custom message that you can share in your marketing.

  • Under Share event link, select Share next to a specific event to create a link that automatically applies the code to their order.

After you've shared your code, select Done.

Delete, update, or share existing codes.

Previously created multi-event codes will be listed in Promotions. To update your code, select the three dot icon next to a code. Then select one of the available options:

  • Edit code: Update the code settings.

  • Edit ticket group: Change the tickets this code applies to. This option is unavailable for codes that apply to all ticket types.

  • Share code: Return to the share page to share your code.

  • Delete code: remove this code. This option is only available on unused codes.

To bulk delete unused codes across all events:

  1. Select Delete unused codes.

  2. Choose the type of codes you want to delete.

  3. Select Delete.

While you can't delete used codes, you can edit their settings. If you need to stop a code from working, update its end date or code limit to disable it.
