QUO VADIS Service Design: An Outlook for 2026

By SDN Sweden

Overview

Explore what 2026 holds for service design in Sweden — challenges, opportunities, and perspectives from business, public sector and academia

As we step into a new year and direct our energy toward fresh beginnings, let’s come together to reflect on what 2026 may hold for service design — and how we can support each other in making this a successful year for our field. Which challenges do we need to confront? What do we need from one another to address them? And what would we like to see more of in Sweden to strengthen the practice and its impact?

We will explore these questions from four different vantage points: in-house service design in business, public sector practice, agency/consultancy perspectives, and academia. Together, we’ll look ahead at what’s emerging, what’s shifting, and what’s next for service design in Sweden.
