Event description
Welcome to our annual grantee webinar where grantees present projects that has received funding from PAR Foundation.

About this event

This year we are excited to be featuring research on two important areas:

Dr Susanna Brighenti, Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet, will be presenting her research on how to treat antibiotic resistant M. tuberculosis bacteria using agents that modulate host immune responses. Multidrug resistant tuberculosis is a serious threat to the global efforts to control the spread of the disease. Project success could improve current treatment strategies and reduce transmission of resistant tuberculosis.

Dr Åsa Sjöling, Senior lecturer at Karolinska Institutet, will share results of her studies on how diarrhea-causing bacteria colonize the gut and cause disease. If successful, this could lead to better preventive treatment of diarrhea and thereby decrease the need for antibiotic treatments.

Additionally, recent grantee Anna Govett will be presenting her ongoing project "Future Leaders Against AMR" that aims to support the professional development of future leaders of diverse backgrounds in the work against antimicrobial resistance.
