Agenda

Welcome, Opening remarks (ORION)

Geopolitical uncertainty, economic shifts and rapid technological development are reshaping the technology industry. Drawing on 16 years as CEO helping build Knowit, and his role as Chair of TechSverige, Per Wallentin shares his perspective on the industry’s development and what lies ahead.
What changes as the economy recovers, and what has changed for good? How will technology shape the next phase of growth? And why do people, their expertise, curiosity and judgement, remain essential to turning new possibilities into real value?

Change is coming. The question is what we choose to do when it arrives.

Across the tech and automotive landscapes, the headlines are filled with anxiety: companies are struggling to keep up with hypercompetition and exponential complexity. Many would like to brute force their way out - tightening return-to-office policies to the allure of a "996" hustle cultures.
But working around the clock yields at best 1.8x boost in output—nowhere near enough to conquer a 10x surge in complexity.
True velocity doesn’t come from burning out developers; it comes from engineering leverage. In this keynote, Gregor Zetsche shares a candid recipe for unlocking sustainable, high-velocity development - "Sweden Speed". Drawing on firsthand lessons of large-scale system integration and modern platform engineering, we will explore what happens when you treat software as a core competency, modernise cloud-native CI/CD toolchains, and put AI agents (not humans) on 24/7 duty.

Sweden Speed: Why 996 can’t solve 10x complexity (and what actually does)

Two things are happening at the same time. Models are getting good enough to build almost anything, and the people describing what to build are less and less often developers. That is the perfect storm: the cost of writing code is collapsing, while the cost of running the wrong thing in production is not.

Helping large organisations take AI-generated applications from prototype into production, I see most of them stall at the same point, and it is rarely the code. It is ownership. Who reviews what an agent wrote, who signs off before it touches real data, who can switch it off, and who answers when the regulator asks.

This talk is about what that ownership looks like in practice: the approval gates, audit trails and kill switches that make AI-built software something a team can stand behind, and why the developer's job is shifting from writing code to deciding what should exist.

Who owns the code you didn't write?

COFFEE BREAK

How do we design robust, evolvable software systems that can handle a rapidly changing world?
How can we reduce risky dependencies and vendor lock‑in without slowing teams down?
How do we design and operate systems that can withstand active adversaries?

ROBUST SYSTEMS, (ORION)

Software development is entering a perfect storm. Modern systems are becoming more distributed, more dependent on external components and harder to fully understand. This complexity creates blind spots. Blind spots create exposure. And exposure becomes more dangerous when AI-assisted attackers can find, combine and operationalise known weaknesses faster than before.

The perfect storm before the breach

Modern software development assumes a stable world: reliable clouds, predictable vendors, cheap compute, and global connectivity. My experience says otherwise.

Zero Trust Engineering: Building systems that survive when the world doesn't

AI is good at small tasks like chess, but it can’t get the chessboard and pieces out of the cupboard and set the pieces on the kitchen table. That’s equivalent to a regular picking task in a warehouse. That’s why 80% of warehouses have no automation and 72% of industrial assembly is still manual, where half a billion workers are the only viable option.

Why AI is not intelligent and how we can solve it: A leap to superintelligence

The talk will cover how to design for predictable performance, avoid single points of failure, reduce fragile dependencies, protect systems and data in a more hostile digital environment, and build observability and incident response into the system from the beginning. It will also discuss how architectural flexibility can help organisations adapt to changing domains, processes, and customer needs without compromising consistency, traceability, or long-term maintainability.

Global by Design: Building secure, stable, and adaptable software

Showcase Gothenburg-area companies building concrete solutions around trust, sovereignty, resilience, and security — and what developers can learn from them.

A SOVEREIGN GOTHENBURG (GEMINI)

Schleswig-Holstein is leading by example, showing that digital sovereignty is not just an ideal—it’s a practical reality. As a European pioneer, the state shows how open-source solutions and a collaborative ecosystem empower government, businesses, and citizens alike. This talk dives into the progress, obstacles, and transformative potential of digital autonomy, backed by real cases: from current migration insights at the state level to grassroots initiatives in municipalities. Discover how a region is turning vision into action—and why it matters for everyone.

Systems for a changing world

Open Source is a powerful way to share the implementation and maintenance of shared infrastructure. In today's complex geopolitical situation, Open Source can act as a unifying mechanism. In this talk, Johan discusses how Open Source fits into a de-globalised world and how it encourages collaboration across borders.

Collaboration in de-globalisation

Sovereignty is usually argued about storage. For AI, it comes down to something else: whose hardware runs the model, who holds the keys, and whether your data has to leave the building to get an answer.

What sovereignty means when the AI is yours

This session explores concrete CloudOps solutions for building and running secure, resilient and sovereign cloud platforms, and what developers can learn from them. From Kubernetes and automation to observability, identity and incident response, we look at how operational decisions directly affect the applications we build—and how developers and CloudOps teams can work together to create systems that are trustworthy by design.

Trust, sovereignty, resilience &security are not just architectural principles

LUNCH BREAK

Who is the software developer of the future, and what will be expected of them?
Groundbreaking methods and technologies that change how we build software — including AI‑assisted development and other emerging practices that will reshape daily developer work.

FUTURE SW DEVELOPMENT & TECHNOLOGIES

For decades, software development has been organised around human teams, processes and tools. Developers write code, architects design systems, security specialists review risks, and operations teams manage deployment and production.
Today, that model is beginning to change.
AI assistants are rapidly evolving into autonomous agents capable of analysing requirements, generating code, reviewing security vulnerabilities, creating documentation and even coordinating work across multiple systems. We are witnessing the emergence of agentic software delivery, where humans increasingly collaborate with networks of specialised AI agents rather than isolated tools.
This shift raises important questions. How do we maintain trust, accountability and security when autonomous agents become part of our delivery process? How do we govern AI-generated decisions? What architectural patterns are needed when humans and AI share responsibility for software outcomes?

When AI becomes part of the team

I will walk you through how structural engineering's mature practices apply to software engineering:

- Reduce cognitive load by breaking complex systems into purposeful, stripped-down models.
- Design for failure to ensure graceful degradation rather than cascading collapse.
- Balance dependability and economics by deciding where to build in buffers and where to accept risk.
- Distinguish between Ultimate Limit States (safety-critical failures) and Serviceability Limit States (usability and user satisfaction).
- Prioritise collaboration and simplicity to thrive in a high-stakes environment.

I'll share time-tested lessons from an engineering discipline that's been modelling reality for centuries and show you how to apply them to your domain models, your bounded contexts, and your team.

Building bridges: From structural engineering to strategic design

The era of software defined by coding is coming to an end. For decades, software development has been constrained by the ability to design, write and maintain code. That assumption is disappearing. We use the term Hyperdelivery to describe the shift that follows, when software delivery time approaches zero and the primary challenge moves elsewhere.

The value of developers is not disappearing. The value of developers is moving. Towards architecture, intent and human judgement. This transformation reaches far beyond software engineering. It changes how organisations innovate, how business and technology collaborate, and how software itself is conceived, built and evolved. This session explores what software engineering becomes when AI is no longer just part of the software we build, but part of the way we build software itself.

Hyperdelivery: When building software is no longer the hard part

Software performance engineering remains hard to automate: results are non-deterministic, performance emerges from the interaction of code, infrastructure, and workloads, and performance tests are often run only occasionally. Early work on LLMs for performance optimization relied on toy algorithmic benchmarks with timing-based assessment, so we built PerfOpt, a dataset of 65 real-life performance improvements mined from Kafka, Netty, Presto, and RoaringBitmap, each paired with benchmarks and a human-written ground truth.
We found that LLMs struggle with both root-cause analysis and repair. This talk presents an agentic framework that closes the profiling loop, showing that re-profiling after every patch and reusing patterns across tasks via experiential memory can outperform strong single-pass LLMs on both speed and correctness, while raising open questions about token cost and benchmarking time.

What makes a team resilient when the world around it becomes less predictable?
Software teams today operate in an environment they cannot fully control. Geopolitical shifts, security threats, new regulations, sustainability demands, and rapidly changing technologies continuously alter the conditions for building trustworthy systems.
Drawing on his experience from elite team sports, Oscar Lundin introduces The 7ers — a model describing seven complementary roles found in successful teams: Executers, All-rounders, Reliers, Growers, Gamblers, Pacers, and Leaders.
Because when the environment becomes chaotic, having the right expertise is only part of the answer. Teams also need people who create stability, adapt, challenge established solutions, drive development, and act when there is no obvious playbook.

The 7ers: What sports can teach us about building great teams

Software-defined vehicles are at least three things at once. A battery. A node in a mesh network. A small server on wheels. Multiplied across a national fleet, this becomes one of Europe's largest distributed energy, communications, and compute platforms. It already exists. Almost nobody treats it as infrastructure.

When software-defined vehicles become a resilience asset

Human judgment in a world we no longer control. We will look at:

Why people are rarely irrational, but often constrained by the systems they inhabit
How Conway's Law extends beyond architecture into organisational behaviour
Why robustness depends as much on human judgment as technical design
Emerging concepts such as humaneness and HumanITet, which treat dignity, fairness, autonomy, and understandability as quality attributes
In a chaotic world, resilience is not achieved by eliminating human judgment.

Perfect on paper, wrong in life

MAIN TRACK, AFTERNOON (ORION)

Even if adversaries have been fighting each other on earth, space has been a peaceful place... is it still so? How does the new, evolving geopolitical situation on Earth affect what we do and how we do things in space? How did we get from a couple of dozen satellites orbiting Earth to potentially millions of small data centres around our planet? Will we ever see the sun again? This keynote will answer these questions and more. We will connect all the subtopics together in this perfect storm where space affects our everyday life, and we rely on space-based services in ways you didn't know, and finally, how space really is software-defined.

Star Wars - fiction or reality?

AI is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful tools available for reducing energy consumption and emissions. Yet the same technology is driving an explosion in computing infrastructure and electricity demand. This presentation explores that tension through Ericsson’s Net Zero journey and the evolving role of the ICT industry in a decarbonising world.

Sustainability Paradox - Can AI save the climate before it powers the problem?

Insider threats rarely develop in isolation. They often emerge from a complex mix of personal and organisational factors, the ingredients of a perfect storm. In this keynote, Anders Spalding explores how insider risk develops and, more importantly, how organisations can bring people, technology and security culture together to recognise risk earlier, understand the wider context and act before risk becomes harm.
