From Crisis To Action - Courts, A Future Perspective
Event Information
About this Event
Efforts to slow the spread of the Covid-19 have had a major impact on countries’ justice systems. Maintaining access to justice is a crucial matter.
In his latest book Online Courts and the Future of Justice Richard Susskind asks his readers whether (a) court is a service or a place. Inspired by this question and the current situation, our webinar will address the following topics:
- Before Covid-19, how were courts perceived by the public?
- During the past months, courts have been closed, or partly closed, in many countries. What will be the effects of these restrictions?
- What role will courts play in the future when it comes to criminal cases, civil cases, family cases?
Speakers
Georg Stawa (Austria), judicial attaché for the Western Balkans at the Austrian Embassy in Belgrade, former judge, Head of Department and Secretary General in the Ministry of Justice.
Nicklas Söderberg (Sweden), senior judge, Helsingborg District Court, former Administrative Director at the Court of Appeal in Malmö, Sweden.
The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Lindblom, administrative chief at Helsingborg District Court, co-initiator From Crisis to Action.
