Simon Dodd

From a very early age Simon has been most fortunate to have been able to experience and enjoy international travel by sea and air.

Experiencing firsthand the ocean liners of the day in the 60's and 70's, he found he was profoundly interested in all things involving internation travel. Simon has maintained this passion throughout his life.

In the late 80's he was fortunate to have been welcomed in the reasonably newly formed Virgin Atlantic Airways. Simon spent 8 years flying to North America and the Far East...

During this time, he began to appreciate the history of the routes which complimented his enthusiasm for the intricacies of cross ocean travel by the great liners of the day.

He studied at the Southampton Institute in Maritime Studies and carried out such roles as the chief events organiser for the International Ship Show organised by the Ocean Liner Society in Westminster Halls, London. He is now considered a Maritime Historian.

His enthusiasm for Maritime and Aviation History has not waned. To the point he is now working within the antiques profession specialising in Maritime Historical Memorabilia. In association with friends living in Gibraltar, he operates from and and sells antiques from a shop on Main Street, Gibraltar (www.gibraltarantiques.com) locally and to the rest of the world, especially the UK.

He has represented SeeSouthampton and has qualified as a guide through this organisation.
