Marion F. Walker Queen’s Project

The Marion F. Walker Queen’s Project is an Akron-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing childhood literacy through free one-on-one and small-group tutoring, brand-new books, and intergenerational literacy events.

Founded in 2023 in honor of Marion F. “Queen” Walker, a retired elementary school teacher who served Akron Public Schools for over 30 years, the organization continues her lifelong commitment to helping children and families develop strong reading skills and a love of learning.

Through community-centered programming, the Marion F. Walker Queen’s Project supports readers of all ages—strengthening confidence, connection, and opportunity through literacy.
