Healey Willan Singers
Healey Willan Singers was founded in 2005 as a tribute to the dean of Canadian composer, the late Dr. Healey Willan on his 125th anniversary of his birth. Initially a chamber mixed choir of young singers. In 2007 the Healey Willan Singers evolved into an all women’s ensemble open to singers of all ages. The Healey Willan Singers presents a two concerts season, with challenging music selections from medieval to contemporary music, especially music by Canadian and women’s composers. The Singers premiered several works including Eric Zeisl’s Drei Frauenchor a capella; David Bednall’s Requiem for women’s voices, organ and viola solo; and Sarah Quartel’s original 2 part version of Snow Angel with great success.
