City of San José - Office of Emergency Management

The Office of Emergency Management leads efforts to protect life, property and the environment by developing, coordinating and managing programs that prevent, prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.

An important part of preparing for an emergency is knowing how to help yourself, your family and others when disaster strikes.

CERT – The Community Emergency Response Team training is a 20-hour, nationally recognized course which prepares individuals to help prior to, during and after a large-scale disaster and is ideal for those hoping to become part of the city’s disaster response. Courses are available in multiple languages.
