Bach Elgar Choir

The BEC has several firsts to its credit, including the North American premiere of Verdi's Requiem and the Canadian premiere of Mahler's Symphony #2. In recent years the BEC has sung masterworks, including Bach's Magnificat, Handel's Israel in Egypt , Mozart's Requiem, and Beethoven's Mass in C Major. A cornerstone of the ensemble's programming is the annual presentation of Handel's Messiah. BEC produces unique and engaging musical performances such as its critically lauded 2019 live soundtrack to Fritz Lang's silent movie classic Metropolis. The BEC proudly champions Canadian choral music, including commissioning pieces by composers. Appearing often with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bach Elgar Choir continues to be an intrinsic part of Hamilton's thriving arts scene.

2023-2024 is the fourteenth season for creative team Alexander Cann, Artistic Director, and Krista Rhodes, Accompanist. Both are excited to welcome you to the exciting programming of the 2023/2024 season!
