UIndy MICI-AHEC
Metropolitan Indianapolis-Central Indiana Area Health Education Center
The National AHEC Organization represents a network of more than 300 AHEC program offices and centers that serve over 85% of United States counties. The NAO mission is to help its members achieve the AHEC mission through advocacy, education, and research.
In Indiana, there are 7 AHEC regional centers that serve Hoosiers throughout the state. The Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (MICI-AHEC) is hosted by the University of Indianapolis through partnership that allows MICI-AHEC to further reach its goals through recruitment, quality programming and community reach. MICI-AHEC moved to the University of Indianapolis in September 2014. Through the years, we have formed a strategic partnership within the University that has enhanced our mission and improves our program implementation.
A healthy Indiana needs healthy communities; and it needs healthcare professionals located in all areas of the state prepared to help educate citizens about health problems and issues and to provide quality service. The Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (MICI-AHEC) plays an important role in providing healthcare professionals who are prepared to meet the needs of these counties: Marion, Johnson, Hancock, Hendricks, Boone, Shelby, Morgan and Hamilton.
